Due persone di cui ho molta stima hanno scritto di Wikileaks, rilancio qui i loro post.
Cinque rapidi punti evidenziati da Micah Sifry (qui sotto il punto 4):
People who think that more transparency will lead to the hiding of secrets deeper in the bureaucracy, and that as a result we will know less, not more about the workings of government or the powerful have got their heads screwed on backward. By that logic, we should require less public disclosure of what the government does, not more. Why ask campaign contributors or lobbyists to disclose any of their activities? In fact, when people think what they're doing ~migh t~ be subject to public view, their behavior generally changes for the better. Thus the overall value of Cablegate--exposing a great deal of the world's sovereign powers to a harsh new level of public scrutiny, and more warning Them That Is Always A Possibility Such scrutiny in the future - Should, on balance, lead to better behavior.
Alberto Cottica takes place in a long piece that is worth reading:
I say that WikiLeaks is oriented to the common good because the activity is not directed against states whose confidential documents is spreading. On the contrary, Julian believes to be useful to them: informing the public about what really happens is strengthened democracy. Putting more heads to think about the choices made in the past, it is more likely to make wiser choices in the future. And I say that mobilizes the collective intelligence. because does not claim to sell "the truth" instead sought to provide raw material for journalists, judges, interested citizens, and the historical perspective. The historical truth is not in a single document, but the interpretation of the total share of these documents that will emerge from the debate. WikiLeaks is limited to transfer confidential documents in the public domain, and then let the collective intelligence of which I speak in my book to reconstruct a picture of the situation. And if it finds that a confidential document could endanger human lives is self-censorship and do not spread: it happened in the past for documents on relocation of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
